Saving Marin County Mountain Lions…

Aren't I gorgeous? Photo from Humane Society's website

If you don’t have plans for tonight yet and want to find out more about these big cats, you’ll want to drive up to the Humane Society in San Rafael for a two-hour Mountain Lion Lecture.  Here is the scoop:

What: Saving California’s last great predator
with Christopher Papouchis, M.S.

How much: Free

Registration: Not required, for more information, call 415.506.6209
When: September 21, 2010 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Why: We do have mountain lions in Marin County.  As a matter fo fact, one was sighted in San Anselmo just a few days ago.  Read the San Anselmo – Fairfax Patch article here.

Topic: Charismatic, powerful, elusive and sometimes dangerous, mountain lions capture our attention, provoke our imagination, and inspire both our fear and respect perhaps more than any other species in California.  However, as the human population of California continues to grow mountain lion populations are finding themselves under increasing pressure.  Successfully saving these animals depends upon our ability to garner enduring public support for their conservation and our willingness to protect sufficient habitat to sustain them.  Join us for a discussion about the secretive life of these magnificent predators and how we can peacefully coexist in lion country. “

It sounds fascinating, doesn’t it?  I hope to see you there.
